Introducing Liberty’s AW24 City Collection, featuring small scale designs printed onto our perennially versatile Piccadilly Poplin – the quintessential choice for sleek shirting. Tying together three central themes of Travel, Archival Discovery and Mid-Century City in an expressive seasonal mood board – reflecting the consistently expansive scope of creativity and wide breadth of inspiration from our studio team. Told through the colour stories of Glacier, Moss, Concrete, Desert Dusk, Blossom and Rust, these prints traverse the changing seasons, from warm autumnal tones through to deep forest greens and wintery blue hues. As always, this collection deftly balances Liberty touchstones of heritage and innovation, as reworked archival pieces complement hand painted watercolours and digitally rendered designs translate into standout conversational patterns.

During the 1950’s, Liberty commissioned some of the top artists and designers of the time to create textile prints. Robert Stewart was closely associated with Liberty’s Contemporary Style of this period, and Midday was based on one of his designs from 1952. Colourful, vibrant and whimsical, this print features alternating sun faces, a motif essentially synonymous with Stewart’s distinct handwriting.

The design is printed by experts at our own Liberty Printing Mill in northern Italy onto classic cotton poplin. An attractive woven fabric with a pleasant hand feel and rich yarn construction, this poplin is characterised by the comfort and breathability that makes it perfect to wear in all seasons. Use Piccadilly poplin to create classic shirts and blouses in timeless cuts, or experiment with lightweight dresses and skirts for carefree appeal.
