Paying homage to the dedicated artisanship that Liberty has been renowned for since the opening of its Regent Street flagship in 1875, this collection explores the creatives who have shaped the story so far. Divided into three distinct narratives – Craftsmanship, Collaboration, and Collectibles – ‘From the Studio’ unveils design sketches and archival studies, shedding light on Liberty ’s innovative artistic practice. This collection reveals the journey from inspiration through drawing, painting, and experimenting with digital artwork to the final printed textile.

Delving into the multifaceted process of creating printed textiles, the Liberty design studio was inspired by the flat, block-coloured areas typically found across the edges of tiled-out repeat patterns. Drawing from a diverse range of hand-painted archival artworks, Marina’s Tea Garden emerges as a striking floral silhouette, meticulously redrawn to capture the richness and tonal subtleties of gouache brushstrokes. This print is part of the Craftsmanship narrative of this collection, exploring the creative process from within the Liberty archive, from print impressions and embroidered studies, to ceramics, jewellery, and furniture.
