In celebration of 150 years of Liberty, ‘From the Studio’ for AW25 stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the London design house. Paying homage to the dedicated artisanship that Liberty has been renowned for since the opening of its Regent Street flagship in 1875, this collection explores the creatives who have shaped the story so far. Divided into three distinct narratives – Craftsmanship, Collaboration, and Collectibles – ‘From the Studio’ unveils design sketches and archival studies, shedding light on Liberty ’s innovative artistic practice. This collection reveals the journey from inspiration through drawing, painting, and experimenting with digital artwork to the final printed textile.

Sitting at the crossroads between old and new, Floral Frieze pays homage to the Arts & Crafts furniture sold by Liberty during the early 1900s. Using the traditional woodworking technique of marquetry as inspiration, the design studio has crafted this bold, large-scale floral pattern, echoing the refinement of inlay motifs. Silhouettes of cut and collaged tulip shapes intersect, lending an intriguing illusion of flat three-dimensionality. This print is part of the Craftsmanship narrative of this collection, exploring the creative process from within the Liberty archive, from print impressions and embroidered studies, to ceramics, jewellery, and furniture.
